AEI is a hardware engineering and applied research organisation. We develop and deploy IoT systems, publish applied research, and train the engineers who keep these systems running.
Autotive Engineering & Innovations (AEI) is a hardware engineering and applied research organisation headquartered in Ozoro, Delta State, Nigeria. We design, build, and deploy IoT systems engineered for environments where power supply is intermittent, internet connectivity is limited, and imported solutions are difficult to maintain: smart energy metering, building automation, water management, and security infrastructure.
Every system AEI delivers has been validated in the field. Our research is published in peer-reviewed international journals. Our engineering talent development programme produces the qualified engineers who install, commission, and maintain these systems.
Engineering talent development is not a peripheral activity at AEI. The engineers we train work directly on the systems we design and deploy, creating a closed loop between innovation, deployment, and workforce capability.
In 2025, AEI was recognised at the NexGen Innovation Challenge in London for its work in smart energy and embedded systems. In 2026, AEI's research on a GSM-enabled smart prepaid energy meter was published in Acta Scientific Artificial Intelligence, a peer-reviewed international journal.
To develop and deploy connected hardware systems that address persistent infrastructure challenges, and to build the engineering workforce capable of sustaining those systems where they are most needed.
A world in which communities are not dependent on imported technology that cannot be maintained locally. Where the hardware underpinning energy, water, and security systems is designed, deployed, and sustained by engineers who understand the environments they serve.
Autotive Engineering & Innovations was established in Ozoro, Delta State, with a defined focus on developing and deploying IoT and embedded systems hardware.
AEI launched its engineering talent development programme: practical, laboratory-based, and structured around the same hardware systems AEI designs and deploys.
AEI received recognition at the NexGen Innovation Challenge, London, for its work in smart energy metering and embedded systems.
AEI's research on a GSM-enabled smart prepaid energy meter was accepted and published in Acta Scientific Artificial Intelligence. Peer-reviewed and internationally accessible.
AEI was awarded the Kestin Pondi Business Grant (₦5M), invested entirely in laboratory equipment and prototyping infrastructure.
AEI was awarded the Vision to Venture (V2V) Grant (₦1M) to fund development of the Smart Water Management System, now in active development.
Much of the technology deployed in infrastructure-constrained environments was designed for different conditions entirely. When these systems fail, qualified maintenance personnel may be hundreds of kilometres away and replacement components may take weeks to arrive. The result is extended downtime in settings that cannot afford it.
AEI was founded to address this directly. We engineer systems for the conditions they will actually operate in: intermittent power, mobile-only connectivity, and limited local technical support. We deploy those systems, publish research on their performance, and train the engineers who maintain them locally, without external dependency.
AEI systems are engineered for intermittent power supply, mobile-only internet connectivity, and component availability constraints. Every system is tested under those exact conditions prior to client deployment.
AEI's projects address infrastructure challenges that exist across many regions: energy access, agricultural technology, security systems, industrial automation, water management, and digital infrastructure. We build cost-effective, practical systems with measurable, documented outcomes.
AEI integrates contemporary engineering research, emerging technologies, and industry best practices into its training and development activities. This approach ensures that our solutions remain technically relevant, innovative, and aligned with global technological trends and standards.
Our organization is led by engineering professionals actively engaged in research, product development, technical training, and field implementation. This unique blend of academic knowledge and practical industry experience enables us to deliver solutions and training programs with exceptional relevance and quality.
Our commitment to innovation and excellence has earned recognition on international platforms, including participation in global innovation and entrepreneurship programs in the United Kingdom. These achievements reflect the quality, relevance, and impact of the solutions developed by AEI.
Prototyping is the beginning, not the end. AEI's systems have been installed at real locations, operated by real users, and validated using real performance data, not laboratory simulations.
